Using Copy Data Link in FEMS (Tech Tip created May 2025)
- The copy data link (CDL)on the download page in FEMS was developed to replace and enhance the WXML service WIMS provided.The CDL enable users to set specific weather, fire danger or field sample parameters that are used on a regular basis and download directly into MS Excel,PowerBI or other application without having to visit the FEMS website each time updated data is needed. This will allow users to regularly update spreadsheets.This feature allow users to get single or multiple stations for time periods based on user selected dates as long as they fit within system limitations. Additionally, users can adjust the data string in the application they are working on to get new datasets without having to go to FEMS to update the download.
Applying Copy Data Link from FEMS in Excel (Tech Tip created May 2025)
- The intent of this tech-tip is for users to understand the basics of how to import data into Excel from FEMS after they use the Get Data Button within FEMS. This is not intended to teach any advanced data transformation, use of Power Query or URL manipulation. The Get Data from FEMS was developed to replace the WIMS WXML, to provide users with an easy method to get data without having to download files.It also allows more advanced users to manipulate the URL and to refresh data without having to access FEMS each time a data refresher is required.
